How come USMS doesn't have a app?

Would the membership be open to one if it was a possibility? If so, what would it look like. What useful things would make membership more valuable? For me the following would keep it on my main homescreen:

Pool finder

Partnership with pools to store pool passes to scan at entry

easier to digest forums

easier to digest events (geofenced so you see what's local to you)

Smart watch integration of workouts

Smart watch integration importing of stats of workout

coach portal (you can send a prospective coach swim footage)

  • It’ll be interesting to see what the organization’s response is (if there is a response). I guess it’d make sense to have one. Or, at least it wouldn’t hurt. I see that other sports have them — USATF (track & field), USAT (triathlon), USA Cycling, etc. And, there is one for USA Swimming. It’s just that all those other sports seem to be all-inclusive in that the “Masters” level seems to be included as part of the main body, and not a separate entity or association like that between USA Swimming, and US Masters Swimming. In a “Devil’s advocate” sense, most of the things from your list of tools for an app are available from the pulldown menu. So, if you have the USMS website bookmarked on your web browser, you have access to them. But, you’d think that the USMS organization would want to keep members engaged on THEIR own website/app, and not somewhere else. But, some of the things on your list just don’t seem to even be a ‘blip’ on their radar. — Dan
