  • I am currently at the Canadian Masters Championships. I am not Canadian but they let me swim. If I earn a medal I get it, but I do not displace a Canadian so in for instance the 50 BR in my age group 2 Gold medals are given. Also I could not set a Canadian record.

  • I loved swimming as a kid and have lately been dreaming about competing (I'm over 60 now) - I have been working hard and dreaming about competing.  but if I have to go against a trans athlete; I know I can't compete.  it's making me not want to try at all or drop my membership in the USMS program.

  • Don't let this turn you off from swimming! Use it as motivation.  You don't have to remain a member of USMS, I know I may not, but I will not give up my love of the water or competition. We will just find other ways to fulfill our passion!

  • This is an interesting concept. Until USMS transgender policy is updated to align with WA policy, transgender swimmers' results could be managed similarly, thereby respecting the rankings and achievements of biological female swimmers.. For example, the transgender swimmer named Kerri McCaffrey in the W60-64 age group's top ten places wouldn't displace the women ranked below Kerri if the Canadian approach of acknowledgment was implemented.
