  • Well…it’s better than breakdancing that’s for sure. And I’m not ‘trolling’ here, or making fun of events that anyone swims. If you’re swimming at the level of the Olympics in ANY event you’re certainly an outstanding swimmer. But…and I know you’ll all blast me for this…I just don’t find the 50 meter races in the pool all that compelling. At the world-class level, it just seems that success or failure all comes down to the swimmer’s start. There isn’t enough “swimming” for swimming and racing abilities to come into play. Maybe it happens…I’ve never seen it…but it seems the winner is determined by the first one that hits the water. And again…I’d rather see events like this added rather than something like breakdancing. — Dan

  • I have always had a hard time enjoying watching the 50 - also odd I guess but its too "splashy" - you just sort of see a lot of water flying around ... at the same time - the 50 Free and now the others will change the sport even more - speed focus is the main reason swimmers are "faster" now - besides blocks, suits and UW -- and it will add even more. At least its long course - anything shortcourse is more UW literally than above water - that rule was a big mistake... should have been 7.5m
