Senior National Games 2025

Looking forward to going to Des Moines Iowa in late July for the Senior National Games, where I have qualified for 6 swimming events.. Would like to hear from other Masters Swimmers who will be there; maybe we can get together for some socializing outside of the pool.

  • Seeing as there are no replies, maybe this should be directed towards age 75+
     swimmers.

  • Amazed that there are no replies! Is anyone going to compete in the 2025 Senior National Games in Iowa?

  • The National Senior Games is not just for 75+; it's for 50 and over.  When I attended in 2019, there were several USMS swimmers there.  It's not that there is a lack of USMS swimmers going this year; they just aren't here on the "USMS Community." Back before USMS went to the new system and changed the format, the "USMS Discussion Forums," were very active with spirited conversations.  The only people left from then who are still active here are just me, Allen Stark, and sometimes 67King will pop on.

To answer your question, though, yes, I will be at the Games this year; however, I will be swimming in the afternoon, because I am in the 60-64 age group.  I will be competing in the 100 fly, 50 Br, and 400 IM on the 25th; 200 Bk, 200 Fly on the 26th, and 200 IM on the 27th.  I will also be in the relays on the 29th.  On the 28th, I will be with the Georgia contingent in the Celebration of Athletes.

  • Good to hear from you, and thanks for the information. I will be swimming all 3 Flys and all three breasts, in the 80-84 age group,  Hope to see you there!

  • I read the private message you sent me; however, when I tried to reply, a USMS message popped up that I was unable to reply to you, because you don't have your permissions set to receive messages.

To answer your question, USMS is the only full-time organization for senior swimmers.  The non-USMS swimmers at National Senior Games probably swim on their own.  Like us, they had to qualify at their state senior games.

FYI: The only National Senior Games I attended was in 2019, not 2023, although I qualified to attend all of them since turning 50.  (I am now 63.)
