Combined meet with United States swimming

Our Elmbrook swim club is combine age group and masters and we would like to run a regional invite meet at a new pool with both groups swimming their events at the same meet. The meet would go over 2 days and would have separate events for age group and masters groups. My question is what's the offical position USMS has on running a meet like this, will this meet be reconized by USMS and be insured. I would like to know if this was ever done before. With good pools getting more and more expensive, a meet like this could actually make a profit for the club and allow the masters in this state to swim in a top level pool. We would like to run this meet in fall as a SCM meet. Please help with your fee back. Thank you. Mark

  • I think down the road we may, and the idea of joining the two sanctions is appealing. For instance, this weekend we really could use more swimmers. If we had combined it with a Masters meet, it may have been more worth our while. Since SCM meets are not that appealing to age groupers(although I think quite a few state records will fall this weekend), it would be nice to flesh out the time-line with Masters. Plus, I think there is a GREAT benefit to the age groupers seeing Masters swimmers and what they achieve.
