USMS Adaptive Division

It appears that USMS does not yet offer an Adaptive Division race category for those of us who are disabled and rely on adaptive equipment to swim. Due to multiple sclerosis and arthritis, I would like to use a pull buoy and paddles in a future sanctioned event. Who does one speak with to obtain a reasonable accomodation?

  • I don't know how to answer your question, but I have a friend who has Crohn's, and does open water events, which I believe are USMS sanctioned.  He has some sort of waiver to wear a shorty wetsuit due to his ostomy bag.  I know for club swimming the meet letters have a section in there about it, maybe see if you can find a USMS meet letter, and see if there is something?  Usually there is a contact person.  Here is a meet letter from a dual sanctioned meet from a couple of weeks ago.  Top of page 3:  www.gomotionapp.com/.../1168213_8d3e200d-03aa-411d-916d-b3833188f26c.pdf
