While working on plural forms of words one day, a student came up to ask me about "moose". I told him to think awhile and then show me what he came up with.
His first answer was "mooses". I told him to try again.
Second answer "meese". No, try again.
Third time coming up to my desk, in the quiet of the class working, he had had it. He didn't get it. He had a painful look on his face and was grasping at straws "moosies?"
I busted out laughing because I thought it was so cute. So much for a quiet class!

There are no Mooses in Mexico but I like the one that writes in this forum, take care.

Hey, re-read Tom's post. He's OK, it's Mr. Moose that is having problems.
Seriously though, I hope all is well and the new day sees you in the pool Tom. Antlers and all.
OK Scansy. How can you discern that?! I'm impressed if you're right :p
Remember how I picked that guys 400 IM time and you told me to buy lottery tickets? I haven't. But I did go to the horse races for the first time yesterday. We only bet on two races, but picked the winner both times. :)
Too bad luck doesn't translate to fast swimming! :p (Although I suppose it IS possible for everyone to get DQ'd in my age group at Nationals except me!)
One of my fellow officers I remember very fondly is CDR Bill Smouse. We did a WESTPAC deployment on a Squadron Staff in the early 90s. As we were nearing the end of the deployment, we have this little institution of "Tiger Cruise," i.e. you can invite a relative or two to ride the ship back from HI to San Diego, and we have some whiz/bang events during that time to keep everyone entertained.
Well, Bill invited a couple of his nephews, his brother's sons, to do the Cruise with us. A couple of us were looking for him and his nephews, and my other buddy, Maj Greg Sheffer (member Corornado Masters; small world) asked if anyone had seen "the Smice."
:p

Well, I could be wrong. There's a lot of "them" in "there" and I do get confused sometimes!
Tom! Its so good to hear from you. I'm sorry you were so sick. Yuck...sounds like misery. I hope you are feeling better now. Please take care of yourself. We like you and your "friends" and really missed you while you were gone. You add a special touch of true wisdom spiced with humor that we love!
Matt,
I love the smice. One of my other favorites is from cartoonland. Did anybody ever watch Pixie and Dixie and Jinks the cat? He used to say, "I'll get you meeses" or "I'll smash you meeses to pieces!"
Ah, more old days (before the tequila and Jagermeister) :p
