Yeah, I think the professor was fully capable of fixing the boat (hello coconut radio!) but was so entranced by Ginger's obvious charm and sex appeal that he figured why fix the boat, the set-up I have right now is perfect! I got this mega hot chick that I couldn't get anywhere near back home and my competition is an old fat guy and a scrany little guy ... hmmm ... yeah, I'll just tell everyone the boat can't be fixed (cue evil laugh)
