An update...
About a year and a half or so ago is when I first started to swim, masters, or any other kind of competetive swimming. I never swam competetively or had any athletic training as a kid, actually spent that time being rather overweight and out of shape.
I think my first timed swim was 1:52 SCY a year and a half ago... 1:58 LCM
Fast forward to now... I'm about 10 pounds away from my target weight (lost 38 lb so far), fitting into size 6 pants, one more size to go...
I'm slowly developing more swimming muscle. :)
We just had our LMSC SCY championships, and I did all personal best times. 8 events, 8 PB's Managed to shave 6 seconds off my 100 free, from 1:20 down to 1:14. My coach is all excited, thinks I'll be doing 1:10's pretty soon.
Dropped 4 minutes off my 1650... when I saw the time, I thought I had missed a lap... or two.
Year and a half ago 1:15's seemed impossible!
I'm rather happy with the way it's going, and thought I'd share the excitement with you guys!
Connie, that is WONDERFUL!!!Such a great improvement. That inspires me a lot, too, because I started swimming in August, 2004(I never swam in my life before, I am 24 y.o. now), so I am very curious what my 1-year anniversary is bringing me.I swim in a SCM pool and since August I went from around 1:45 100m freestyle to 1:05 now.I really want to break a minute by the end of my first year.I am not sure if I will be able to, but I am working at it and I know it will come some day - sooner or later, well hopefully sooner, lol. Also since August I taught myself (mind you, I have no coach) all the 4 strokes(working on backstroke right now).
Keep shaving your times, Connie, that is the best feeling ever when you know you got faster!!!
Connie - you ROCK! (clapping hands) - I am so proud of you. I have to tell you, since I lost 25 pounds two years ago, my times have really been affected.
Keep up the amazing work.
