What do you do?

Just curious. What do you do for a living? I'm a 6th grade english/history teacher, full time. :p

Well, I am entangled in odd jobs still, 'cause I am still studying, I am a so called "student forever".I have a Bachelor's in interpreting/translating(Russian, English, German) and economics which I received back in Russia, so I am doing occasional translations here and there...Now I am back in school again and have a LONG way to go again...on a way to a new challenge - Pharm D.Yeah, I am studying to be a pharmacist.I never thought I would end up like that, 'cause I was never really passionate about chemistry and such as I was about languages, but I guess the genes are taking over, lol: my mother is a college organic chemistry and agricultural studies teacher...

First of all seagurl....Congrats on your math class this semester!!!.....Although you did it all on your own as I haven't helped you at all this entire semester......If any of what we did last semester helped then I am very glad to hear about it....but we only covered a few topics actually....you must have learned the majority of the topics all on your own....awesome job!! Fisgrrl, and swiminonanon....you guys are also awesome!....your kind words are an encouragement to all the geeks like me out there (and our numbers are growing!)...thanks for liking geeks too....when we were all younger it wasn't really that cool to be a geek....and girls weren't suppose to like geeks (and if they did and made it public....then their popularity at school could be in serious jeopardy)....seems like the tide may be finally turning these days....I also really like smart (and geeky) girls as well....My wife can routinely stomp me at our home jeopardy competitions....and she is also a fierce competitor when it comes to any kind of games (board games, card games..etc...)...she also plays crossword puzzles constantly.....I have read that continuing to challenge the brain throughout our entire lives may help people to live longer and healthier lives in the sense that the chances of contracting certain nuerological disorders late in life (like dementia) are significantly decreased. Erika It's a gorgeous area, beautiful swim, fantastic food, really incredible, so if you do make it, let me know. The swim requires one pilot boat per swimmer, and we have to limit the number of participants, so let me know if you want to come in 2006! Mary

OK, geeky admission time. I too, love crossword puzzles. I always have a couple of those Dell crossword puzzle mags around! It runs in my mom's side of the family. I can remember as a kid visiting my grandparents and my mom, grandpa and grandma all sitting around doing crossword puzzles! Alas, with work, kids, family, etc. I usually can only spend five hours or so a week on puzzles.:(

  • I am the town geek.....kinda like the village idiot....only an extreme geek as well.....but like Anthony Micheal Hall's Character from Breakfast club, I am hoping one day to be king of the geeks.....or perhaps "Lord of the Geeks"....(kinda like Lord of the rings only geeks instead of rings).....then I would have some prominence amongst the ever growing geek community anyway. Actually I am a Mathematics Professor.....same difference right? Newmastersswimmer I cannot believe this. I have the oddest taste in forum friends. I'm always drawn to breaststrokers. Now, I have a pal that is a math geek. I will tell you, Jim, that freshman year math did nothing to help my college GPA. I skipped out of AP Calculus my senior year of high school to take another AP lanugage arts class, and I was screwed in college as a result. Everyone knows I am a lawyer. I cannot believe only one other person has fessed up. Everyone must be too used to being dissed. I did read that Rich Abrahams used to be a lawyer on Wall Street though. He's cleaned up his act apparently. I couldn't tell, but it sounded like he was not even practicing law ...
