Mechanical engineer - I design buildings. Look in the ceiling or a mechanical room to see all the ducts, pipes, etc - that's me.
Karen - sixth grade teacher??? I'm impressed that you haven't pulled your hair out yet. Then again, maybe you have - we've never met!;)

I also organize a non-competitive swim across the Strait of Messina, which means swimming from the island of Sicily to the Calabrian coast, which is the toe of the boot of the peninsula of Italy I Swim Italy
That is quite possibly the coolest vacation plan I've ever heard of. I'm not up to it yet, but that would be such a great goal to work toward. My husband's family is from Sicily & Calabria (last name is Palermo -- how much more Italian can you get?) and we've always wanted to go visit the area.

Wow, there are some really smart (or smart-sounding) people here.
...
I vote for smart sounding! How smart can someone be who will be in a pool before work, push themselves to exhaustion, smell like chlorine all day, have dry skin, etc. and call all of that fun!:D
"Temporarily" Retired Registered Nurse-worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care for 10 years. I'm taking time off to be a full-time mom to my 2 girls. Unfortunately, my nursing hours were not conducive to my children's ACTIVE schedules!
I'm currently a high school swim team coach, a part-time USS coach and a summer league coach. My girls are both swimmers so these jobs work well for my family!
I plan on going back to nursing in a few years!
