Since the “Women are Trouble” inspired the “True Romance through Swimming” how about when the romance ends. From my earlier post from the “you know you’re a swimmer when” thread.
"at a swim meet your swim buddy starts poking you in the ribs and laughing out loud when he observes the women’s relay being formed up contains your current girlfriend and the two previous girlfriends"
That was all in good fun. However breaking up when you share a swim lane can be difficult. Any stories and or good soap opera's out there? Most large masters swim teams have many on going soaps.
it all depends upon the particulars
there's usually a dumper and a dumpee
there's awkward moments and awful feelings
which all make great stuff to write songs about
today I've been working on a song called
"love is a terrible thing"
which examines the downside of love.

Well, I have never had a true girlfriend before, but I guess this sort of counts. When I was in high school, I had a HUGE crush on this diver, she attended a different school and used our pool for practice sessions.
I was so delighted to seeing her every morning because I had some sort of feelings for her. One day, I took the courage and asked her out, only to be turned down. The whole day felt like an eternity for me since I wasn't used to that feeling.
Going to the pool was kind of hard the next couple of days because there she was, even though she wasn't as interested in me as I was to her.

Many a pool side romance until I was 23 after 23 No More Swimmers. My wife is my swimming companion but does not really swim. When she worked at the swim school, I told her "Chuckie you are our best swimming instructor, but please don't demonstrate".
