It could be just an acknowledgement of getting older, but Richard Quick announced his retirement from coaching and remnants of my world came crashing down.
My era of idols are coming to a close, Jenny Thompson, Matt Biondi, Pablo Morals, Mary T., Betsy Mitchell, Janet Evens, Kristen Otto (yes I grew up with the DDR as the main competitors to the US.).
Sigh…
Granted Katie Hoff and Michael Phelps are exciting, but it’s like the doors are closing and the group have moved on to the next round of swimming stars. Just taking a moment to reflect.
