Just started back in the pool in Sept 04, with the Savannah Masters, after 22 years out of the sport.

Swim first year but quit after not improving and had to work and concentrate on school
I placed(made consolation finals) at our league champion CAA(then) in the 400 IM and 200Fly. DQed in the 400 IM and placed 10th in the 200 fly, I think.
First year: Ohio University Athens.
Degree: double in speech and language pathology and deaf studies, double minors in psychology and philosophy
Swam: injury to left knee
Current, after some time off: Pennsylvania Culinary Institute
Degree: Bachelors in Specialized Technology, patisserie and baking
Swimming: Masters team in Sewickley, PA (there is no PA Culinary swim team, or I'd be on it, lol)
University of California, Riverside. Economics. Long time ago-sorry- I'm old. Best school in the Northern Hemisphere: in spanish 4, i was the only student enrolled... and they held the class!!
The pool was, and still is 33 1/3 yrds: six laps 200 fly. that threw the visitors off. i swam 2 years: couldn't handel the pressure.

then transfered

BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
swam remainder of frosh/soph years, but my major got in the way... switched to water polo for the rest of college. and then realized that i was and always will be a swimmer.
now- Big Cat Masters (still in good ole happy valley!) and working as a chemist
I know I could look it up, and I've always liked the way it sounds, but what IS a "nittany" lion?
I have a lot of friends who went to UCLA and I finally found out that a Bruin is a baby bear...

Didn't swim at PSU or in high school or even as an age grouper. Started to swim seriously about two years ago at the age of 33.
From 1983 - 1987 I swam for the proud Southwest Missouri State University Bears (SMSU for short).....I never made the NCAA's unfortunately (which was my goal)....I did win conference MVP my senior year for winning all my individual events at the Midwest Independent Swimmming Championships (100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 I.M.).....I was still unhappy though for not qualifying for NCAA's...(While at SMSU I majored in partying 101!!).....After that I was nothin but a bum for about 5 years...(But I did meet my eventual wife at a Dominos pizza joint in Huntsville Texas in 1989 where we both delivered pizzas....the highlight of my pathetic life thus far!).....I decided to go back and get my bachelors degree in Math from the University of Houston from 1993 - 1994....I then moved to Knoxville TN to go to graduate school at the "Real" UT (The University of Tennessee...Sorry John!!) in Math in 1995........I eventually washed out as a doctoral student when I could never get my Ph.D. Thesis to work....(and I spent some unbelievable amount of time on that sorry ### thing!!) ....I did manage to get a Masters Degree before I left though....(My Doctoral Thesis has since been temporarily shelved and is now stamped as "a work in progress").

My husband grew up in CT (his whole family is still there) and much of "it" has indian stories/legends. We both enjoy them. I love to travel back there and try to learn how to pronounce words like Quinnipiac or Housatonic. Much more interesting than all of the Spanish here in CA. I took 4 years of Spanish in HS not Indian! Indian would have been cool :)
Suares! I'm a Highlander too! Graduated in 1990, BA in French Civ, minor in business. Went to grad school at Monterey Inst of International Studies. I didn't swim at Riverside (shoot, I barely swam in HS if you can call it swimming), but really enjoyed it - especially my EAP experience - Junior Year Abroad. The UC System has the BEST foreign exchange program. I still keep in touch with my favorite French professor there. UCR has really grown, and it's still the best!
