It appears that Swimming World came out with the first Top 12 World Masters Swimmers.
Seems a little strange that there are only 2 people under the age of 50 on this list. Is there an age requirement here that we don't know about?
Where is the Evil Paul Smith's name on this list? He sets at least one National or World Record almost every year.

This is how Evil Paul Smith is......
He gave my son a University of Florida Gators Sweatshirt.
There is only one righteous swimming school, and that is the University of Texas.
Need I say more.

Wow, I thought maybe he just talked a lot of trash, But getting physical is just ridiculous. I assume the two Smith's are not related. It is sad to see a potentially motivating competitiveness between swimmers become real dislike for one another. I always had my rivals in college, but weather I won or lost we always shook hands and gave each other respect for the better man on that given day. originally posted by ced357
Dude,
They are friends......You don't really believe that Paul took time out during his races to reach under the lanelines to punch someone do you?....If he went 45.9 after doing that ....then he must be superman or somethin?......The G.Smith/Evil Smith thing is just a friendly comradery thing.

The "Evil" and The "Good" Misters Smith have had an ugly battle going on for years- no holds bar! Spitting, urinating in each other's lanes, underwater punches, sabotaging each other's training, and other "things" that cannot be discussed on this forum....
Why do you think no one warms up in the Good Mister Smith's lane?

Well, “Dude”
People tend to get a little crazy when it comes to competition. Hence, Tonya Harding and soccer fans killing players for poor plays etc.. So, would I surprised if someone told me that an athlete tried to sabotage another during a race, or retaliate after one? The answer would be no, I would not be surprised.

First of all, I did not know their times for that particular race in question. Although a 45.9 in a 100 free is fast however, I do believe there are others much faster in existence and they easily could strike someone in such a fashion and still pull off a 45.9. They would not have to be superman, just man. Its not that I am gullible, its just that I have seen things much more outrageous than the story you told.
I am glad to hear that the Smith's are friends.
Sorry if I implied you are gullable....and I guess you don't like being called "dude".....I wasn't trying to be cras....I was repeating a story to you that Mr. G.S. left on one of these threads.......You are right though about the fact that some people do actually commit crazy acts of sabotage (such as Tanya Harding for example)...and it is sad to think that atheletes would do things like that to one another....I also had my rivals back in college (in our modestly smaller conference).....and we were always very civil to one another no matter who won.....but we did joke around a bit too.
