It appears that Swimming World came out with the first Top 12 World Masters Swimmers.
Seems a little strange that there are only 2 people under the age of 50 on this list. Is there an age requirement here that we don't know about?
Where is the Evil Paul Smith's name on this list? He sets at least one National or World Record almost every year.

Good Mister Smith:
I have now read the article in Swimming World. It makes no sense to me as to how these individuals were selected. What is the criteria? First, it appears that yards are not a consideration as this would prejudice the rest of the world. Second, it is clearly disparate in favor of individuals over 50 ( and all the way up to 91) versus individuals 25 to 49!
Quite frankly, I cannot understand how a man who went 20.9 50 yard free and 45.9 100 yard free as a 44 year old is not listed. Trip Hedrick's times are good as a 50 year old, but in my opinion, no where near as good as the Evil Mister Smith! I would suggest that a 45.9 100 yard freestyle by a man almost 45 is a lot faster than a 55+ 100 meter freestyle. Again, I am not diminishing Hedrick's accomplishments, just pointing out what I believe is, again, another flaw, in United States Masters Swimming! I do admit, there are so many, this one is minor since it appears to be totally subjective without any methodology.
