How about this year we don't dedicate so many lanes to slower swimmers in warm up. Last year there were about 4 end lanes out of the total 16 lanes dedicated to the slowest older swimmers. That's 25% of the entire warmup space !
We need a better way to keep the slow people in the slow lanes and the faster people in the faster lanes during warm up. Warm up turns worthless after the first 10 minutes.

Before this thread was high-jacked into personal comments, you had a serious question.
At nationals, a safety marshal does monitor warm-up. You will not be allowed to use buoy or paddles.
I find the best routine for me is to get up early, warm up as soon as the pool opens and then go back to the hotel for breakfast. As a backstroker, I think using the competition pool prior to the race is very important. A shorter warm up before my races is then sufficient. I admit that as the meet goes on, I have more trouble getting there early.
There should be plenty of space for warm up in Ft Lauderdale because of the second 50 meter pool.

Betsy I do apologize for getting overly crude in my last posting.....I got a little carried away with that one.....I will do my best to refrain from being as crude in my postings from now on....I don't want to offend anyone....but in all honesty I can be a pretty offensive guy some times....I'll work on it!

p.s. I edited my last posting so as to not be as crude.....and I apologize to anyone who I may have offended by it.
betsy, thanks for the answer!!! not that i mind all the personal jabs (quite amusing actually), but i'm glad my question didn't get lost in all the fun.
