I was offered a presciption for steroids in 1952. I went to the library and found out what they were and I told my doctor no.
I knew all kinds of athletes who took them I don't think any one really benefitted from their use.

Also, they guy who just got reinstated in swimmign. Said that he was taking a nutritional supplement that didn't have any labeling about steroids. He had it tested & it turned up positive. He really didn't know becasue the list of ingredients didn't list what they found, as I understand the case. It was somewhere inthe norhteast, I believe.
If you bring an unopened jar containing a nutritional supplement made by company X to a laboratory, have it tested, and find that it contains illegal substance Y, which isn't on the label as one of the ingredients, I think you'd have grounds for legal action against company X (particularly if you were an athlete who got suspended from your sport because ingredient Y turned up in a blood test).
It's a good idea to only buy nutritional supplements that are manufactured according to pharmaceutical standards.
