Has anyone gotten their magazine yet?
  • I guess the mail travels a little slow down South. I got mine several days ago. Is the editor going to entertain recipes that do not contain nonfat yogurt, arugula, salt free pretzels or rice cakes? I have an excellent cajun dish I would love to share. And an easy recipe for English toffee.
  • As luck turns out I got mine today. Absolutely no complaints here. Very well done. The English Channel article was very interesting.

Although it isn't quite the season yet, we have wonderful open water swims here in Oregon. I know you'd absolutely love it! We can even entertain an occasional non-diet recipe when we're rewarding ourselves for exceptionally good work. So, send away! ;) Bill
  • I enjoyed the magazine. There are several older swimmers who can not do flip turns for one reason or another. It was helpful to learn of an efficient way to do open turns. Sometimes one just runs out of breath! Rob, I guess Sandy Springs has faster mail service than Peachtree City!!! It great seeing you at the Dyanmo Meet.

Hi Craig, I checked with the National Office to see if your registration was current, and it is. So, you should receive your magazine shortly. I believe the magazines went out with a periodical rate, but I'd have to check on that to be sure. PLEASE NOTE: if your address has changed any time during the last year, please send the updated information to the USMS National Office at: usms@usms.org -- not having a current address in the database could cause delays in receiving the magazine by mail. I received my magazine yesterday and I may know why others are not receiving theirs... My magazine was in my mailbox, but the mailing label was on the ground! It appears that the adhesive used on the mailing labels does not stick well to the very glossy magazine cover.

The "New" Magazine sucks The main cover story is 'Improving your freestyle open turns' what an insult to swimmers. The next issue main feature will be 'Waterwings or lifejacket, what is best in deep water'? or maybe 'How to adjust your goggles every lap'? At least Speedo knew not to Advertise in this waste of paper. USA Swimming's Splash magazine is almost as bad but, at least it is written for and read mostly by pre-teen swimmers. THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OF US MASTERS SWIMMING should change its name to 'USMS NON-SWIMMER'

Winnie, I get tired also, and maybe need a breath. So lets see a story on improving one hand breaststroke/butterfly turns, or how to stop and turn at the flags. I always like a good push off the bottom. I bet my time and stroke count would go down if I just turned in the middle of the pool. Most runners don't race but when was the last time Running Magazine did a cover story on how to walk to the fridge? Yes, some people may only be able to walk that far but should it or would it be a cover story?
