does anyone have a nike lift suit for big meets??? i'm looking at getting one (just the normal women'ts suit, not the buckle back) but i have no idea what size to order... i'm hoping someone out there either has one or knows where to find a size chart. any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!
whew! i'm so glad i found someone who actually has one of these suits!
i'm a nike girl all around (since PSU is a nike school for absolutely everything- i got used to nike suits when i swam in college...) so i really only know my nike sizes... if i wear a polyester tank (with the skinny straps) in a size 30, do you think i should still order down??
thanks a million plus one for your help!
Hey there.
I have two versions of the Nike Lift suit - both are buckleback. The one is the regular tank, and the other is the short jane (the one with legs down to the knee)
I love them both. The thing you have to get with Nike, if you're going to order one, is that Nike sizes run big. I wear a 36 practice suit in Speedo, but the Nike 34 is a great competition suit for me. So, if you're at all confused by that spiel, whatever you take in Speedo, order a size down in Nike. It can't hurt, since it's a competition suit.
But yes, I love my Nike Lift suits. They're fantastic (I chose the buckleback, especially for the short jane, because it's easier to get on and off during competition)
Cheers,
Steph
and this is where my issues arise! i know i wear a 30 in the poly suits... but i ordered a 30 that was a nylon/spandex blend and i could barely get it over my hips (which are nearly non-existant! i'm built pretty much like a boy...)
but a bit of good news - i found out that one of the women i work with has a daughter who swims and has a lift suit (buckle back) but at least this way i can see how stretchy the fabric is... which (hopefully) will help me figure out if i need to order down or not. all of this over a silly swimsuit. no wonder non-swimmers think we're nuts! ;) :D
i had been planning on getting it at srsport.com. they've got the lowest price i've found online, but if anyone knows where i could find one under $58... :D
thanks for your help everyone! i really appreciate it.
Doesn't the poly Nike's run big on purpose to wear a suit under? I wonder if you would go down a size in the lift. I cannot speak about the women's lift, as I have only bought one for my son, and it was a few years ago.
I think the Nike lift should fit you like the flyback one should, so you would most likely be okay with the 30. If the 30 is comfortable for you, and not tight, then you still be able to get into a 28 and not have it be horribly uncomfortable-tight.
I ordered mine in 34's (my Speedo practice suits are a 36, and I have a Nike drag suit that's a loose 36), and they fit nicely.
Which site are you ordering the suit from?
oh i know all about the not being able to fasten your own suit- i played water polo at PSU for a bit and we wore high neck zip suits. you'd have to be a contortionist to zip it yourself! so i'll agree with the team bonding...
actually, my team isn't in the allegheny mountain LMSC... we're just about the farthest team west in deleware valley (which isn't great lakes zone, it's colony...). if we were in allegheny, we'd be there- most of our meets are at least 3.5 hours away (in the DC area mainly). our big april meet is colony zones in virginia... good luck at regionals!
Mollie,
Good luck with the suit finding! My 34 works great for me (I used it in the pool at practice last night, just for break-ins sake)....I have found one slight "drawback" to my buckleback suits...I can't fasten them by myself. So, I pretty much just slip the loop over my head, and then ask one of my teammates to buckle it for me. Other than that, I have had no problems with it....besides, with the Fastskins, etc, you can't very well zip your own suit, so for the sake of arguement, we'll call these suits "team bonding" or something like that, since it takes more than one person to fasten it.
BTW, I noticed you are at State College. Are you swimming Regionals at Clarion April 9-10?
