I was driving home today and
started pondering about the 200 im
suppose for a moment in the 200 IM
you got to choose where you put each stroke in the race
there's 24 different ways to do it
what do you think would create the fastest over all time
would
Fly Back *** Free
be the fastest combo for you?
If not what would?
Why?
personally I'm thinking
Fly *** back free
would be fastest for me
Probably
Back Free *** Fly
would be slowest
What about you
Anyone got any comments?

I have noticed when we do reverse IM's in practice, I seem to do the best. I don't know why, but I have energy left over. Maybe it's because I can "coast" more on free and *** and then rest a bit on back before using up what I have left on fly.
OK, here it is. I would do fly, back, free then ***. Here's why ...
The fly and back wipe me out. But I can recover pretty well on the free without slowing down too much. Then, I would have something left to do a good push off/pull down in the ***. I have been working on that and I can make up time on that. This would be even better if this was for short course - I get an extra pull down.
let's make up the rules and say you can flip the turn from free to the next stroke and because of that it may be faster to do it
FL BR FR BK
or maybe
FL BK FR BR
I think I might pick up a second or so swimming it this way

Doing 100 each way might make an interesting and confusing 100 IM set

I think it would be more exhausting than confusing or interesting.:(

I don't think you could flip the transition turn - don't you have to finish each stroke with a standard finish?
Yes, but in freestyle that just means touching the wall with some part of your body. So if freestyle weren't last, you could flip into the next stroke and touch the wall with the bottoms of your feet.
