Not sure if anyone is watching, but Florida's Ryan Lochte (Olympic Gold/Silver medalist) has been incredible:
First night;
- 50 back medley relay leadoff = 20.92
- lead off the 800 free relay = 1:33.07
Last night;
- 200 IM = 1:41.76
- 100 back lead off 400 medley relay = 45.19
This morning "floats" a prelim swim in the 400 IM = 3:46.95, finals start in just a little bit so we'll see if he gets Dolans AR of 3:38.18?
Looking forward to seeing him and Phelps go at it next time!
Lochte was amazing.
I did not know about his 50 back
he was quite inpressive in the 100 free and the 200 back
1:38 whoa
wonder what he'll do at NCAA's
though keep in mind
back in 1996 or so Neil Walker from UT Austin
had an NCAA meet where he was ON
Neil went
20.7 in the 50 back
44.9 in the 100 back
19.08 in the 50 free
then he broke his finger at the meet
so we never got to find out what he would have gone in the 200 back or the 100 free, or 100 meter back
i don't think neil was wearing a fast skin type body suit
Back in 1981 Eddie held a time trial after the NCAA's
where
Rowdy Gaines set the world record in the 100 free 49.36 and
william paulus set the record in the 100 m fly 53.87
point is I wondered what Neil would have gone in the
100 meter back that season if he hadn't broken his finger.
American Short Course Championships are coming up in Austin
I think Phelps is going to be there. Wonder how much of a priority he's put on the meet and if any records will fall.
