How about promoting masters on a local level rather than on a state or LMSC.
The LMSC should be in the business of helping promote local teams within the LMSC and not having a seperate team. Lets work on growing local programs and have them compete no matter how big they are. Fitness and healthy swimming begins in the local pools.
If everybody on the Master's team I swim with competed and went to Nationals, then we would be able to field relays. But in many places in this country that is not the case. 2 people compete from my team. So being able to participate on a Superteam makes me and the other lady able to participate on relays and be a member of a team. There are many places in downstate Illinois like this. We have the swimmers at practice, they just don't want the expense of traveling and competing. So they are doing it for fitness and health!
