My first mile swim

Well, I've only been at it since October but my endurance has come back (I used to be able to cycle for hours...). After I swam 1200 yards without stopping last week and felt like I could have kept on going (I had to get out to let someone else into the pool - long story), I decided I will do a mile tomorrow. I'm not saying attempt; I'm going to do it. Wish me a good swim. I will stretch carefully before I get into it. I notice around lap 30, I feel like I can go forever. I think that must be endorphins... -Marian

Yes, I guess it is a mile across the Golden Gate..I live in the Bay Area (or does that show in my signature?). My sister is a triathelete and got me into Masters Swimming in an indirect way (they were looking for a helper with the website and here I am!) She wants me to swim more freestyle though, and right now freestyle sucks my breath. I can do 50 yards of it and then I want to die. *** stroke is my thing and I feel like I can do that all day long. I've come down with my cold but have no fever. I'd like to swim tomorrow; my sister also tells me that if you have a cold - providing there is no cough - you feel 'normal' in the water. I don't feel that bad; I think I felt worse yesterday and very tired. That might have been my mile talking....
