Does anyone use one? I don't have a big swim bag, and I'm curious about them, because I know they're much smaller.
I think my swimming toys indulgence will include red zoomers and one of these towels once I'm fit enough to get back in the water.
I used to dive (now I just swim),
but that's how I got into sammy's and carried it over to the swimming.. they're ultra absorbant and keep you dry from the pool deck to the shower so you don't have to use another towel! you can wring them out really easily and use them again instantly!

I have a shammy from Speedo. i to have a small swim bag so being that small is a real advantage. Its truly a very good investment.

I have used one for years and love it! It saves on space, funkey smells one might get with terry cloth and it's fun for me still to see how much water I can sqeeze out of it!:D

I love chamois! We used to get them from our coaches as championship gifts, and I think I've had every color Speedo ever made (blue was my favorite)
They do save a lot of space, and they dry you off a lot quicker. Plus, they're just so darn cool......

The other great thing about them is for those of us who
are off to work after our swims, we don't have to stow
a damp towel in our car that will stank up till we get home.

I have a TYR Chamois (Pronounced Shammy) that I have been using since late April '04 and I love the size and absorbancy.
As for Funky smells, I have yet to experience that coming out of my Chamois. I wring the goodness out of it until it's moist enough to place back in the plastic canister.
The only drawback is that they tend to feel cold on your skin.

According to Doc Counsilman the chamois-like plastic towel was "invented" by Sammy Lee for his divers. Hence, the trade mark Sammy name. Sammy Lee was an Olympic diving coach not too many generations ago.
Come on, we all know those Sammy's are for divers. We swimmers can't use them. That would put a *** in our armor that we are so superior to divers. :)
I'm sure most of you know this, but as someone else pointed out the Sammy is just an artificial chamois that was created by Sammy Lee. A chamois, of course, is an Alpine ungulate that happens to have a hide that is very absorbent. I think even the "natural" chamois are made from sheepskin these days, though.
I use one at meets between events so that I don't go home every night with 3-4 soaked towels, and so that if all else fails, I have a way to get dry before getting dressed.
Mine is one from the automotive department at Wal-Mart. It's 2-3x the size of the ones made by Speedo et al, and cost me about $4 I think.
