...a large group of (large) people file into the YMCA pool area on a Sunday afternoon and fill the bleachers, not to watch me finish my set, but to conduct a baptism.

You know you are in the southwest when the pool starts to rock and roll.

I've found one of the nicest things about swimming in the South is the knowledge that I-95 still has northbound lanes, although they don't seem to be used often enough.

You know you're swimming in the south when....
You hear someone with a northern accent complaining about how much better it is up north.
It's the nostalgia for rusted out cities, snow that stays through May and the contaminated ground water that always brings a tear to the displaced Yanks' eyes.
When you can swim up to the bar and order a drink, Oh Oh a little too far south. Originally posted by geochuck

p.s. About those song parodies.....R we ever going to get a sample of them in the poetry thread?
I will get to the .mp3 samples of my parodies when I have time... right now, I've been busy with work, school and of course, my favorite... SWIMMING! Don't worry, I'll post 'em soon.
you approach the blocks for your race and you hear" ya'll step up, ya'll take your mark" and after the gun goes off, the swimmer in lane 2 yells "YEE HAW" as he dives into the water!!!:D
