...a large group of (large) people file into the YMCA pool area on a Sunday afternoon and fill the bleachers, not to watch me finish my set, but to conduct a baptism.
They stayed away from the lap swimmers.

You know you're swimming in the South when the pot-luck swim team dinner mostly has buckets of KFC. (That was back in the '70's in a N. VA suburb--but it was sooooooo good!)
