The Olympics and the World Championships were great,but I was just thinking what was missing was mixed relays. Imagine a 400 free relay of Coughlin,Joyce, Crocker,and Lezak vs Thorpe,Klim,Lenten,and Henry. Picking the 400 medley relay would be hard unless they let each country enter two relays. Then we could see two US relays like Coughlin,Beard Crocker,and Lezak vs Peirsol,Hansen,Thompson,and Joyce.Throw in the Australians and it would be awesome!!!

Just the thought of watching race like that makes me tingle with excitment!! That is a race that could stop the world and make everyone watch! OH MAN! That would be awesome to see!!

This is a great idea. The strategy in picking the teams and which legs to swim would be very interesting. Watching these races could be a lot like watching an I.M. race...lots of lead changes...you never know who'll win until the very end.
I had that same thought the other day! It would certainly add another dimension to an international meet. Maybe have an exhibition event to see how it was accepted. Going even further, why don't they do mixed relays in age-group? Maybe it becomes a sensitivity issue: boys not wanting to be beat buy a girl. . .or vice-versa.
I have to imagine that mixed relays started in Masters simply because it sounded like a fun idea.
