(I somehow lost my post in the middle of reviewing it--sorry if this ends up posted twice! Now let's see if I can remember what I wrote.)
I was talking with a friend about swimming and she said she started "swimming for life" x number of years ago. I got the sense that she meant that it was more than a good workout--it kept her "alive." I have to admit that it has that kind of effect for me, too. At the risk of sounding too new-agey, it's nourishing in more than a physical sense.
What does swimming mean to you? How does that compare to other sports or activities you do? How does that meaning influence your goals and performance?

(btw, I've lived here close to 7 years and still don't see the attraction to cheesesteaks or (shudder) scrapple. I do miss my Chicago pizzas and hot dogs though...)

It's probably better for my waistline that I'm not in Chicago anymore. My favorite pizza is from Edwardo's, my favorite dog is the garbage dog at Portillos, and I'm probably missing the point of cheesesteaks 'cause I'm expecting Italian beef. Boo-hoo. I miss Chicago...:(

OK, Kyra. This is WAY off topic but where is your favorite cheesesteak place? The way people rave about them, I think I must not have tried the perfect steak yet. Big John's in Cherry Hill, NJ....they might have other stores by now though. It's been a while since I've been back there. Hands down delicious!!! And they ship so if, you know, you want to send one my way I guess I could let you. ;) :wiggle:

I swam that ole 50 fly there. I cheered on your teammates. I helped Swimmie AvsFan get distracted so that Muppet swam an 850 free. Not! I also watched the epic dual between those two in the 100 back. Muppet has quite a start! I'm sure it's that monofin he uses once in awhile for SDKs.
I love your pool even better than mine. Only been there twice, once LC once SCM. But I had good luck there. Sometimes, I have trouble seeing the walls on the finish though ... But it's got great gutters. I had to swim that 50 fly in lane 1. You're lucky to swim there with great teammates. Maybe you should write a little ditty about your team? I did really like your Ode to the Locker Room poem!
