(I somehow lost my post in the middle of reviewing it--sorry if this ends up posted twice! Now let's see if I can remember what I wrote.)
I was talking with a friend about swimming and she said she started "swimming for life" x number of years ago. I got the sense that she meant that it was more than a good workout--it kept her "alive." I have to admit that it has that kind of effect for me, too. At the risk of sounding too new-agey, it's nourishing in more than a physical sense.
What does swimming mean to you? How does that compare to other sports or activities you do? How does that meaning influence your goals and performance?

Powerful poem Peter.....It is sort of a testiment to a side of human nature we can all relate to....(well except for me of course).

You have a real gift for poetry fortress. In case anyone misinterprets the intent of this poem as an attempt to bring attention to the recent fighting....I just want to say that my impression is completely different. We all learned that it is hard to know the intentions of a posting....but I see this poem as a poem about friendship and optimism....it talks about how our forum (and forum members) can learn to heal and move forward....the sharing of laughter and joy. Hopefully others will see it that way too....because I really think the intent was to be uplifting....I think it was a beautiful poem Fortress. Thanks for sharing your beautiful poetry with us again.

Jim, you are absolutely right. Well said. Anyone who interpreted this as something other than uplifting would be a real cynical conspiracy theorist. C'mon. This is poetry. Fortress, ditch the law and write a book or something.

Who's a conspiracy theorist? You guys are all in cohoots just to get me aggro'd.

Nobody has said anything to the contrary. It seems like people are still quite defensive after last week's feeding frenzy.
Or is this baiting? Hmm?

I saw you eyes in the night sky and your smile as the sun rose this morning...:smooch:
So would it be safe to say that an evening was spent together? Not that there is anything wrong with that...just curious.
Haha it was some commute too. Round trip to VA, andgot in 90 minutes at my pool before going home...MrsStud had no clue.
Purely metaphoric poetic license for my friend, Forty...
You are the Man!!
I assure you it was purely in jest. If I thought something were really going on I would not bother to even post.
You all are so talented and I'm not. It makes me sad.:(
Roses are red.
Poolraat is blue.
Here comes a hug,
To cheer up you.
If a poet you're not,
Then a flyer you'll be.
With monofin in hand,
You'll soon crush me.
To Nationals you go.
Daughter by side.
You'll scorch the pool up,
A wild, fast ride.
Then you'll come back,
And take on pal Stud
The 100 IM,
A grudge race with bud.
Then you'll sit in the tub.
Beers at the ready.
Chatting 'bout forum friends.
Both wicked and steady.
