(I somehow lost my post in the middle of reviewing it--sorry if this ends up posted twice! Now let's see if I can remember what I wrote.)
I was talking with a friend about swimming and she said she started "swimming for life" x number of years ago. I got the sense that she meant that it was more than a good workout--it kept her "alive." I have to admit that it has that kind of effect for me, too. At the risk of sounding too new-agey, it's nourishing in more than a physical sense.
What does swimming mean to you? How does that compare to other sports or activities you do? How does that meaning influence your goals and performance?

Surely that's doctored...but it really doesn't look good at all.
look how puny his forearms are compared to those mutated bicepts...LOL!! I hope that the picture was doctored for his sake.....Who would want to look like that anyway?...LOL!!

o.k. guys....I don't want to gross you all out too much now...LOL!! (It wasn't as bad as my pet cat avatar was it?...LOL!).....I'm now back to my regular cute kid avatar.
Newmastersswimmer
I much prefer the cute kid avatar. Is that your little one?

Yes, that is my son Neal when he was around 1 year old. He is seven now (he will be 8 in May). I decided to change my avatar every few days with a new picture of him....I will eventually get up to the 7 year old pics....but I really like the baby pics the most!
The worst part about that is I feel sorry for everyone who was working (hard) and didn't get a chance to see that this afternoon. perhaps you should put that back up for a few more hours posted by Muppet
I will try and see if I can host that bizzarre bicep pic on something like photobucket (or some other free webhosting site if there are any left??) and then post a link to it later for those who missed it....I'm guessing the guy was not a swimmer....LOL!! His forearms were so small yet his upper arm was like a mutated watermelon from 3 mile Island...LOL!!   ...Oh and nice poem Muppet....maybe you should share more poetry on this thread from now on (or song lyrics like you posted before).

p.s. And since I have to teach a night class from 6 to 9 tonight, I will have to wait on my latest retaliation limerick to the British Blowchunk....I mean British Blowfish....uhmm ...sorry about that.:D
Sonic, that is a fabulous super hero!

I just saw your lovely song. It was soooo good and evocative, and I can tell you're lonely for the pool ... I've still got my fingers crossed for you to make a speedy recovery! I often feel like my life is pre-arranged too. Sigh. I'm hoping we can pre-arrange a meeting at nationals if our shoulders let us. Hang in there!
For Allen:
There once was a SwimStud named Stark.
With breaststroke he did make his mark.
He became a world champ.
With nary a cramp.
But he never became a SwimShark.
He gave advice freely to posters galore.
Even to spirits or muscles t'were tore.
He was brainy, not snide.
When he told us to glide.
But, alas, he has now taken sore.
So we must hope his shoulder snaps back.
To ensure a secret nemesis attack.
A poster to meet,
He is ever so sweet.
We don't want him supine on back!
So you are mad because you can't read an entire thread ... wow, I feel badly now ... :shakeshead:
Sorry Heather it's the old "treat 'em mean--keep 'em keen" routine..I think you dig that to be honest...
:smooch:
Well, since NewMastersSwimmer posted his pic, here's how I look:

Okay, I'm not really a superhero, but this is a self portrait. Also, I do plan on getting the costume made this spring. :p
Jim-Bo and Queen are petty and mean,
They think that their "schizzle don't stink."
Talk's what they do best--as I scare them at ***,
And they know I'll just turn their cheeks pink.
Though soon I'll pass by in the Crawl or the Fly
And to Heather I'll give a wee wink,
And for all Jim-Bo's bluster no glee will he muster,
As my calves in his psyche leave a ***.
LOL :thhbbb: :thhbbb:
that's what you get for sneak attacking me!
