(I somehow lost my post in the middle of reviewing it--sorry if this ends up posted twice! Now let's see if I can remember what I wrote.)
I was talking with a friend about swimming and she said she started "swimming for life" x number of years ago. I got the sense that she meant that it was more than a good workout--it kept her "alive." I have to admit that it has that kind of effect for me, too. At the risk of sounding too new-agey, it's nourishing in more than a physical sense.
What does swimming mean to you? How does that compare to other sports or activities you do? How does that meaning influence your goals and performance?
So he sought help from Fort,
But she gave him a "Brazilian" wax!

I think I have neglected to write a poem about breaststroke yet. :joker: I was getting lazy after reading about LBJ's breaststroke-memory-erasing-implant-chip and was lacking inspiration after my recent spurt. But with this slur, you may have given it to me!
Get yourself a nose clip, Stud. And a netti pot.
I love breaststroke and I hate Fly
100 fly - I'd rather Die
100 *** - it's the Best
100 back - I'll take a Rest
100 free - its a Breeze
But I'll take *** 'cause gliding's for me!
Jim and Rich stood side by side
Off went the gun and in they both dived
They matched each other stroke for stroke
The Geek and the Brit, both witty old blokes
Out of the turn, they were still neck and neck
Then came the wall and to it they strived
I just can't believe it, they actually tied!!!!!!!
p.s. Oh BTW the poem about me and rich was great and all...but seriously..tied??...LOL!!!...I guess if I were swimming breastroke with a 50 lb weight strapped to my waist...(only kidding of course...or not??..LOL!)
I could not remember what your stroke was. I will try to come up with a creative one for you two racing breastroke next.
A True Gentleman Can Show Empathy For His Foes....by Newmastersswimmer
Since I am a true gentleman
And the Brit appears to be in a real jam
I hope that he gets well soon
Even though he's an utter baffoon...(just j/k of course!!)
I will show pity on this puny Brit-Lamb.
Rich, I've been fighting a cold lately, too. Get better quickly. I had a very interesting experience swimming today every time I went deep (starts and turns) my head felt full of pressure behind the eyes, it also made breathing a challenge, and I still pulled off 2 PRs! The other events we aren't going to mention ...
Hehe I had a mixed workout couple of good times couple of bad ones..but I've hit myself har Friday and today.. now I'll go easy on Tues and Thursday only this week...and rest up. I find provided I am not congested int eh chest...I can get by...if lung capacity is down I ten to not get beyond 100 before having to stop. If you can hottub do it and it should help the sinuses. Other than that...feel better soon.
Get well soon for both Heather and Rich!.....Its been suggested by Fort that Heather joins forces with me and LBJ in our merciless takeover to assimilate all the poor breastroking fools into racewalkers and Butterfliers....(Although Heather may not want to join arms with the new arch enemy of her beloved friend rich?).....I've noticed several of y'all complaining about these winter ailments (including the fort)....I guess I've been lucky so far (Knock on wood).

hahaha ... no, no ... it's me ... in my old age my memory seems to be failing me ... hmmm .... so how's the 200 fly training going?
PS - your avatar still scares me ...
*gasp* I've changed ... well, I never ... Kyra, have I changed? Other than the failing memory due in large part to the very scary avatar you are sporting I don't think I've changed ... maybe you've changed .... maybe that 200 fly training has fried your brain ...
