(I somehow lost my post in the middle of reviewing it--sorry if this ends up posted twice! Now let's see if I can remember what I wrote.)
I was talking with a friend about swimming and she said she started "swimming for life" x number of years ago. I got the sense that she meant that it was more than a good workout--it kept her "alive." I have to admit that it has that kind of effect for me, too. At the risk of sounding too new-agey, it's nourishing in more than a physical sense.
What does swimming mean to you? How does that compare to other sports or activities you do? How does that meaning influence your goals and performance?

Jim, bicep man was almost as scary as the cat....I'm going with more because it seemed real-ish. posted by Seagurl
It was a very freakish pic thats for sure....I will try to post a link to it later for others who may not have seen it yet to enjoy. I am temporarily changing themes with my avatar though since Kristina posted her pic and so did the likes of blowfish (temporarily only though) and Geek and Gull. I found this old pic of me and my wife Susan from the early nineties (right after we first moved out to Tennessee from TX...so soon after we were married in fact). Notice what I'm holding in my lefthand though...(its kind of hard to see unless you look closely)....LOL!!

p.s. And Rich, since you mentioned that we should all be able to at least make it through a 25 of each stroke, I say we add the 100 IM to our challenge list along with the 50 free. What do you think?
If I can drag my hulking frame on 25 of fly it's a deal..it's been a long while. The strength is there but the technique sure as sugar ain't!
