I would like to second Bill's solicitation for articles. When we first started the Article of the Month, contributions were hard to come by. (They still are, somewhat) David Grilli gave us many articles but, as you know, he writes some very good but technical stuff. His article this month on Dryland Training is very short and simple and would be excellent for Newbies and Fitness swimmers. Check it out in the Fitness section. We would love to hear from all of you. If you do not write articles, find one from your LMSC newsletter, pool, or coach and get permission for us to use it. Send it to Billl or Jani. We work hard trying to find information for our website section but this Forum has helped us reach beyond the committee. Help us post what you have been talking about. Hoping to hear from all of you with an Article of the Month, Pam Himstreet

I'm a graduate student with some time off, and I'd love to take a stab at a couple of articles that are newbie appropriate. I was a newbie not so long ago, and I practically lived on the discussion boards here then. I'll look throught the posts for ideas and hope to put together an outline for something this week. Newbies, not-so newbies, and those who care to reminisce: I would love to hear your ideas for articles you would like to see. Feel free to send me a private message. Laura

Are you looking for technical articles, or would you welcome some human interest articles as well? Especially about stating out, and things that peoiple grapple with when they're starting out. I gather having an occasional article about that could be very motivationg for others who are in the same boat.

Hi Connie, We are always looking for different types of articles. Fitness is a very broad term, and it includes health, nutrition, physical activity, and a wide variety of other things. Send us your ideas. We will evaluate them, and if we're interested in seeing an article on the subject, we may be able to assist you in the development of articles to be featured. Thanks for your interest! Bill

Hi Bill, I'll try to round something up... I always have a ton of ideas (not all of them good). And have some stories, but, I tend to tell them 'from the hip' and english is not my first language, so whatever I come up with needs heavy duty editing befre it can be an article. Even though I'm constantly working on it, my english vocablulary sometimes leaves me frustrated and at loss for how to say exactly what I mean. I used to be really good at that in my native language. I also know a few people that are much better at it, and I think with little bit of encouraging and nudging, they'd come up with some interesting stories. Oh, by the way, some time ago I read your article about parallels between swimming and art (I forget exactly which one it was - off the top of my head). I tend to think in a similar way, and I was delighted to see you talk about that, and I could certainly relate to what you were saying.

Hi Connie, The best way to go about it is to put together a very brief abstract of the idea you would develop. A couple sentences description would be sufficient. This way, you're not writing an entire article before an idea is approved. Let us know if we can assist. Bill

Sounds good. One of the things I may try to do first is poke around our LMSC and see ifthereare articles that had already been written, but not sent your way. I know there are some from our LMSC newsleters etc... See what shakes out. One of the ideas perhaps could be an article (not just my experience, but maybe several people's experiences) of "How I got started".. from a fitness swimmer and a bare beginner point of view. I gather that there may be some interest in peiople reading stories like that on occasion.
