I just started swimming about a month and a half ago and everything was ok until about a week ago my hip started hurting so bad that the paid echoes almost all the way through my left leg.The pain is basically right in my left buttock, on the side(not where you sit down).I find it kinda weird, I have no idea what caused it.Another funny thing is that while I am swimming I don't really feel it, but as I stop to rest standing I can hardly do it because of the pain. Also, I get that about 20 min. through my work-out.I strech before every time I swim and especially since my hip started hurting like that.Still does not help!
I thought maybe I pinched a nerve or something, because the area is not swollen, but the pain is there.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?PLEASE, HELP!
THANKS.
What stretches did you do. I currently am experiencing what sounds like you suffered from. I did have an xray (normal) and start PT on Tuesday. I do not want to give up swimming either. Usually the pain is worse in the a.m., I swim aroulnd noon for an hour, and the rest of the day I seem okay. Of course, I'm a lot older than you. The pain seemed to start when I got some new fins and started working out with those (force fins: slim swim fins).
Please let me know how long it took to get better, and what stretches you do.
Thanks,
Sylvia
