Just got my issue of SI this this week, and there's an ad in it for Argent Mortgage. For those that might not know, Argent is a big sponser of Michael Phelps, and the US Swim Team at the Olympics. Their ad features Brendan Hansen, Aaron Peirsol, Amanda Beard, Michael, Lenny Krayzelburg, and Ian Crocker standing in a group, and the tagline for the ad says, "Argent Mortage; Official sponsor of finding gold at the end of the black line." Then this little blurb down below (and this is the reason I hung the ad up on my wall) says, "The US swim team is one of the most highly medaled American teams in Olympic history. Yet for every record breaking performance and crowd thrilling moment, they spend literally thousands of hours alone in the pool. Pushing themselves beyond limits. Following the black line. We at Argent Mortgage are proud to sponsor the US Swim Team. Because like them, we believe that the key to success lies in staying focused on your goal, and pursuing it with all you've got." In a couple words, VERY COOL. I know it's a mortgage ad, and a pickup line, but I don't CARE. I wake up every day and see that hanging on my wall (and while it's yummy that those guys seem like they're staring at me) and it makes me think that maybe I'm not the only person working my ass off to reach my goals, and that I really can do it, if I just keep working. That's all from Ohio for now, anybody else catch the ad?
