Getting back in the game

Hi out there to all, my name is Stephanie, and I'm having some trouble, I was hoping y'all could help me. I've been trying to get back into the swimming world after four years of dealing with a serious knee injury that left me out of the State Champs my junior year of high school and beyond. I'm interested in hard-core training and competing, to hopefully finish a career I'd started in high school. The problem I have is that I'm moving to Pittsburgh in a couple months, and until then, there's nothing around this small Ohio town to get me started. I'm not under 18, and I'm not in high school anymore, so there's really nothing group-wise for me. I would really appreciate any help, advice, workouts, dryland, coaches in Pittsburgh/groups, weights, anything like that. I was primarily a backstroker, shortcourse 100 and 200, and relays. Thanks!

There is a "TEAM PITTSBURGH" that is a masters team that practices at Trees Pool on the Pitt Campus. The JCCs (south hills and squirrel hill) both have masters teams BUT you do have to join the JCC. There are a number of YMCAs in the area (depending on where in Pittsburgh you set down roots) that also have Masters Teams. Some of the high school coaches have put in masters level practices (peters twp, mt lebo, char valley) that are VERY early in the AM. I don't know if you swim with the kids (which I think you might) but you do get a coached workout. Check out the where to swim section on the first page of the USMS.org and go down to Pennsylvania. And Welcome--you'll like Pgh. PM me if you need names of ortho docs to do any followups on your knee
