Hi,
I'm very interested in getting involved in Master's Swimming, but I'm a bit nervous because I never swam competitively. I ran track and cross country in college and have competed in triathalons (in my younger days). However, my knees and back can no longer take running, so I've switched to swimming. Right now, I'm swimming 1 - 1/2 mile workouts, but all I really know how to do is freestyle and my own version of a flip turn! I'm bored to tears doing this on my own...plus I have no idea how swimmers train!
There are several masters swim options near my home, but I'm not sure if I should really just show up like the team web sites say to do. Or..would I be better off taking some individual adult lessons to really learn the strokes, do workouts on my own for several months and then show up to a workout?
Any advice is appreciated.
Julie,
As a fellow swimmer in the Atlanta area, yes there are lots of options to choose from.
I would suggest calling the contact person on the web site for more team. Or you can email or call me and I will help you get connected with one of our teams.
