San Francisco Evening Open Swim?

Hi there, I just moved to San Francisco from the east coast and want to re-start my swimming up here. I miss my old swim center and can't seem to find the right one in the city. I'm not sure I'm ready to join a master's program but really want to swim regularly. I live in Cole Valley right near the N-Judah line and would like to find a pool I don't have to drive to since parking is a bit of a bear in my neighborhood. If anyone has any thoughts I'd be really grateful to hear them. I'm longing for the pool...

seriously...nobody has any suggestions for me? :( i'm really looking forward to getting back into swimming now that i'm resettled out here post-college.
  • Well, if you are looking for suggestions… Then ready or not, I’d suggest you get hooked up with a Masters club. Check out the Places to Swim on the USMS.org web site and check out the Pacific LMSC web site (www.pacificmasters.org ). As someone who has swum on his own and swum with a Masters club, I can tell you I am always more likely to show up and to swim better/farther with the club than I am when I train alone.
  • Hi, sorry to be late posting. I would suggest you consider joining USF Masters. They are within walking distance of Cole Valley or there is a Muni line that you could catch that runs down Stanyan. The USF Koret Center also sells swim passes but I think that you have to be living close by (don't know the boundaries) or a USF graduate. I hope you consider joining the Masters. We have several practices a day or if you pay the annual dues you can enter the facility anytime it is open. I hope to see you swimming there soon.
