There's a link to the full schedule of events under the photo of you know who.

I went to NBC's website to see their schedule of programming. I got a big headache at first but figured out some sort of schedule for myself as I want to record the swimming events, especially since I am from the Baltimore area. (Actually, I grew up in the Towson, Maryland area.) I know that NBC might not be the best, but it's better than nothing!
That being said, NBC is rebroadcasting the previous day's events early in the morning following the prime time broadcast. All of the listing are on NBC (check your local cabel channel) and the times, I believe are EDT. (Don't ask me which day has which event!) Here goes:
AUGUST 15: 2:00 AM - 5:30 AM
AUGUST 16: 2:00 AM - 4:30 AM
AUGUST 17: 2:00 AM - 4:30 AM
AUGUST 18: 2:00 AM - 4:30 AM
AUGUST 19: 2:00 AM - 4:30 AM
AUGUST 20: 2:00 AM - 4:30 AM
AUGUST 21: 2:00 AM - 5:30 AM
AUGUST 22: 2:00 AM - 5:30 AM
In addition . . .
AUGUST 13: 8:00 PM - 11:30 PM Opening Ceremonies
AUGUST 29: 7:00 PM - 10:30 PM Closing Ceremonies
Since the prime time coverage is during the day, the probability of my taking off from work, life (honey-do stuff), etc., is about zero to nothing, so recording the rebroadcasts seems to work for me.
I am curious, anyone else doing some time shifting here? Also, what format would you use: VHS tape or DVD? I am using DVD myself.
It will be an interesting week, nonetheless, for swimming. Gee, I wonder who "you know who is?" :D
From what I understand, those "overnight" repeats are going to be of the 8-12 EDT stuff. Since we're about 7.0 hours BEHIND Greece, what happens during the day THERE is going to be run HERE in the evening. Much the same as what happened with last Olympics. There is also a "review" show from 12:35 to 2am that wraps up the days events.
NBC is gonna save the "big ticket" events for the primetime shows. The morning and afternoon stuff will be the "lesser" sports that take more time. Except on the weekends.
The only thing "new" here is that NBC will be providing an HD feed to your local station which may be DIFFERENT than what is being run on the analog side. They did this for the last 2 Olympics (I'm sure for the last Winter Olympics--they had alot of Hockey on the HD feed and it ran about 24 hours AFTER running on the analog side). Only problem is that right now recording HDTV is a bit of a problem.
If you're doing a DVD==make sure it's one that you can reuse. Wouldn't it be easier to run a VHS and then dump to DVD? Quality may not be as good but the savings is there. Or just TIVO it and then dump to a DVD.
Love those "plausibly-live" highlight shows. Get teased for hours about the epic swimming battles 'coming right up', but get treated to endless team handball or earlyround action of Team Slackers in basketball, then some syrupy profile of one swimmer- then finally...we get to watch the real thing. Happens everytime, but I watch faithfully, just in case I miss something (and I get to bounce back & forth between CBC & NBC). Bring it on!
I'm Tivo'ing too. That way I can fast forward through the Not-so-Dream team and all the other extras to see what I really want. You can dump the stuff you want to keep onto a DVD or VHS, and you can also watch it in slo-mo to see the details. Gotta love modern technology.
I'm in Bellingham, Washington and Canadian TV showed all the swimming finals live this morning. It's great not to have to wait until midnight to see it all on NBC.

We surely have great TV coverage in Canada, of all Olympic Sports by the CBC (Canadian Television Corporation) I watched it from morn til afternoon today.
