Hey everyone,
Thought you all might enjoy the attached photos of Michael Phelps. We had great seats right behind lane 4, and he was (literally) only a few feet away when I took these photos. We got a good look at him, and all the other athletes. We saw Thorpe just as close-up a few weeks earlier at the Janet Evans Invitational. Both of these guys are built differently from the rest of the swimmers.

Yep, I knew that too, Skip. Didn't bring it up for fear of branding Rachel a "late bloomer"!
Seriously, she really is remarkable. Probably her late start has something to do with why she's swimming so much faster at 27 than at 22. I also find it interesting that her best events have changed. In college, most of the time she swam the 500, 1000 or 1650 (depending on the what was offered), and 200 fly. Of course then, she swam the events that helped the team the most, and now she can swim what she wants to.
