So after I saw this ad in the back of the last SWIM magazine for one of the smaller swimwear manufacturer-retailers, I checked out their web site to see what they had to offer. I saw a "grab bag" listing for a hi-tech knee length john suit for $ 40.00, and said to myself "gotta have it!" When it arrived yesterday, I eagerly tore open the package to find this very well-constructed, excellently sized suit made of a wonderful, water-repellent polyester fabric . There was something about it though that made me start laughing as if I would never stop. It was bright red, with large bold black spider webs all over it. If I saw some other fat old guy step up onto the starting block next to me wearing that suit I believe I would have to scratch the event for not being able to contain my laughter.
But AHA! One of the schools in our area goes by the team name SPIDERS! I know one of the kids who swims for that team. If I can coax a navy blue "Spiders" swim cap from him, I just may well wear the suit (during warm ups anyway) at the upcoming LC event in Raleigh. If you see me in it, though, don't ask me for Spiderman 2 tickets...
