In the Washington Post (Washington, DC's newspaper) there was an inspiring story about a swimmer that became a paraplegic. He attempted prior to his accident at age 11 to swim cross the English channel. He got close but couldn't finish the last 4 miles. He had an accident later in life causing paralysis below the waste. He went back into swimming and did swim the English channel, among many other accomplishments. The link to the aritcle is below. It is well worth reading.
