I have not swum long course in many years and realizing it is different for everyone but what some of the people out there use as a "personal conversion factor" between short course yards and long course meters.
I feel your pain with outdoor backstroke. It is a tough adjustment. Do you have lanelines? That will allow you to hug the laneline to hold your line. And don't forget stroke drills to "straighten" your stroke. Good Luck!
