are swimming and runinng a good mix. for example a swim workout and a run workout a day , would it hurt my swimming

It's interesting that you ask that question. I was wondering myself. One day last week, I did a shorter swim than usual (about 2300 yards), followed by a three mile run. I felt great.:D
I don't want to run too much - ultimately the reason I started swimming was because I always seemed to stop running after a month or so due to shin splints/pain in the knees and ankles. Now, I am hooked on swimming. But the change of pace was cool. I am going to try and do a 3 -5 mile run once a week after a reduced swim workout. But if it seems to hurt my swimming over time, I will stop running.
