Music and swimming

I have to head west each evening at 7:00 for my workout. The kids are in bed. The sun is usually going down and it's quite beautiful. I was thinking that most people in the east were probably already in bed. Kinda weird. But if you think about it, is there a swim practice every minute somewhere in the world? That's kinda cool. Someone is always swimming :) But I digress, since the post is music and swimming! I always listen to very upbeat music on the way to practice and usually none at all on the way home. Reflecting, yeah, that's what I'm doing. OK, I'm just too tired to turn on the radio! What does anybody listen to on the way to practice or to get psyched at meets?

Being a music teacher I always find myself singing some crazy song in my head that I used in class that day while swimming. It probally doesn't help that I workout right after work. Hip hop bunny, bunny, hip hop bunny.......... O.K. I stop singing now.
  • For those days when I really need motivation, there is the Top Gun cd. That can get me motivated to almost anything! For swimming in long distance in meets, I got a song stuck in my head once and had a great race so I try to get it back each race. It's "The Remedy" by Jason Mirhaz (sp?). The song has a great beat and is easy to follow along in my head. Works every time.
