When considering the overall speed of swimmers in the past and present it seems that although times are still dropping for swim events there is a "dropping off"graphically of time improvement..now do you think this could mean that there will be an ultimate saturated speed time that will never get beat?i think that unless we evolve say webbed feet or the like then this is possible....thoughts?

P.S. My husband, who started swimming competitively in high school at age 15, wants to know if he's an early late bloomer or a late early bloomer? ...
Sounds like a whole new category that he can dominate!
Let's see ... we can have:BloomersEarly Bloomers
Mid Bloomers
Late Bloomers
Early Late Bloomers
Early Mid Bloomers
Mid Early Bloomers
Mid Late Bloomers
Late Early Bloomers
Mid Early BloomersDid we miss anything here? That was a lot of bloomin' work! :p
Interestingly, Websters II Dictionary defines bloomer as:
bloom-er, n. 1. a. A plant that blooms. b. One who attains full development of his talents or abilities 2. Slang. A blunder.
Should start a category list for late blunders? :D :D :D
Mark
My only hope is that if I keep blundering into practice early in the morning that maybe someday I may be a middle of the day blooming swimmer so that I can then be a late in the day beerer.
i think

If I were a Late/Early/Mid Bloomer with VO2Max Shampoo, can I legally compete against a Mid/Early/Late Bloomer without VO2Max Shampoo if I use VO5 Conditioner before the race? Or will I have to swim backwards against them?:D

No, you don't have to swim backwards - just do a reverse IM.
Besides, I hear if you swim backwards really fast, you actually go backwards in time. Could cause problems if you are in the same race as Tom Ellison who is moving so fast he is catching up to himself and having a conversation.....
So, with VO2Max Shampoo and VO5 Conditioner, would a Flux Capacitor with Gyro Stabilization be legal! Or do I still have to worry about running in to Tom? I could just say Hi to Tom and keep going!:D
Yes, that would be a legal arrangement, but I take no responsibility for the safety of yourself or the other swimmers. And be warned that you may start in swim meet in 2004 and end up in a swim meet in 2020. Or even end up in a swim meet in 1970.
Then you could run in to a much younger Tom! Could not, could to, not, to...
Regarding the use of "to ~, not to ~, to~, not to~, to, not" could be a sign of Ellison syndrome. The long-term effects also include not knowing where to go ... forward or backward ro worse yet, being stuck in the present.
