Speedo or TYR?

I am curious to what your preferences are regarding Speedo or TYR products (or other). I myself am a Speedo girl, and always have been. However, I recently bought a discounted TYR reversible suit for practice and it lasted way longer than any Speedo ever has. I'm tempted to buy TYR again, but do I dare switch loyalties? I like Speedo styles better - I've never been big on brand names at all, except when it comes to swimming - there's just something about Speedo.

Satruday, I bought a new pair of Speedos brief to ware under a traingn suit. I bought 34 waist. They fit fine for about 10 minutes. then hte leg opening began to hurt. The leg opening onthe suit was way too small. I'm skinny and hte suit was not at all designed for my legs.

The lining of the above mentioned speedo is coming out of the suit.

They all seem to be about the same to me. I've used TYR and Speedo briefs and they both seem to last about the same amount of time. Anyone have any experience with the Aqua shift suits versus the speedo fastskin I's? I've heard that the fast skins seem to "feel" more boyant. Kevin

    Speedo for me!
  • for me (I'm short) TYR better  than Speedo suits: I love Vanquishers

  • I'm a TYR fan. In fact, I still have a TYR suit from water polo in college nearly 20 years ago. The few Speedo grab bag suits I've used as practice  suits during that time faded and stretched pretty quickly in comparison.

  • 18 years ago???   This is why the "NEW" forum is crap!

  • Holy guacamole, this is an old thread.

But what the heck, I'll join in. For practice suits, I have zero preference. I've worn Speedo, Nike, and TYR practice speedos and have been sufficiently happy with all of them, and was a Speedo tech suit zealot from the 90s up until 2016. In 2016 I started branching out, and now I've worn tech suits from A3, TYR, Finis, and Adidas, and am currently debating between an Arena and a TYR for Nats in April. If Speedo hadn't kept treading water on the LZR Racer series for so long in the 2012-2016 timeframe, I'd have likely stuck with Speedo for my tech suits. As it is, about the only thing I think Speedo has going for them in their tech suits is they generally have the best coverage for my big butt and they tend to be a bit more comfortable for all-day wear at Nats than the others I've worn.

  • The only suits that have staying power for me are the Speedo Endurance and TYR Durafast - these are 100% polyester suits.  I have tried other suits that were a spandex blend and they never last more than 3 months before they start to stretch terribly.  I take very good care of my suits too.
If I were to choose one of the two (Speedo Endurace or TYR Durafast), I choose Speedo Endurance.
