I have a general and very important question about freestyle form. Where should the entering hand enter the water: level with the chin, eyes, forehead, or stratched completely out in front?
I am a member of a triathlon organization, and went through their swim series for a season. Before I joined, I always thought the hand should enter outstretched out front. But after swimming with the club for a while, the coach made it clear that the entering hand should enter at chin level, not far our ahead.
However, I recently began swimming with a master's club. That coach instructed us to reach out as far as possible before the hand enters the water.. I basically had to unlearn a habit that I had developed with and trained for over a year.
I then rented a video "freestly made easy to try to learn the proper method. Though it says to reach as far as possible, it doesnt say where the hand should enter.. can any of you shed any light on this?? I want to get my form down before going any further with serious training. As we all know, it is very hard to unlearn an improper stroke.
