  • Yeah, what happened? Has Ion been sent back into the ether again? It's as if that whole riot never happened...
  • I think this is the first time a thread has been pulled. Last night it was still up but was Locked Out like the last 2 threads that Ion participated in namely "Enjoyed the Articles about us Ordinary People" and "Swimming Finals at the World Championships". Those two still appear in the Locked out format. I was going to respond to something and when I got home from swim practice last night it was locked out. I think it lasted just 2 days which is way shorter than the other two. What started as a "Where is Ion" no that is wrong the only thing I remember that started this was "come back little beza come back". It started out friendly, then became a mean game, turned into a battle, and then complete war. I did happen to see Sam Perry, Emmett Hines, and Cynthia posts and Ion's reply to them. I knew Jim and the moderators would this lock this out and real soon. This action reminded me of some headline news today. Michael Powell and the FCC are taking action against certain broadcast infractions concering indecency in communications. There are house hearings next week that will put pressure on Networks to clear the air of any brodcast indecenency. Howard Stern was supended today and he joins Bubba the Love Sponge and Oppie and Anthony for their actions regarding this. So they are essentially locked out for the time being. Michael Powell said "True and lasting change will only be achieved if the broadcast community recommits to is public service roots and its tradition of abiding by the community standards of decency".
  • This is supposed to be a discussion forum about SWIMMING!!! I agree with Tracy. Don't add fuel to the fire. I am now pushing my "ignore" button!
  • I hope this thread is "locked out" too. Just stop it everyone.

Well, our buddy Ion send me an e-mail about my weight, height, and lack of grammar ability in English and the fact that I have a community college education. I just assume that all his college training was in France. I didn't putdown Eastern European education. I was saying that immirgants that come to US come from different countries that give them different levels of education. Eastern Europe is high and many of our tech jobs are being send there just like India.

It must have been the Fcc... or Tipper... or the CBS super bowl advertising dept, maybe it was "lost in cyberspace", the USMS editing dept. Maybe God struck down the Ion thread, or even more scary... Clear Channel. Whatever and whoever, its still censorship.

But it's proof that this place is not into crytical thinking. It is into politically correct make ups. In the thread that was deleted I was calling this supression of quest for quality in a list of requirements for better standards in USMS, similar to what the religious Taliban fundamentalists are doing in Afghanistan: unfounded sentimental feel good for a few conservative and stale but no crytical skills in analytical thinking. A very competitive USMS swimmer wrote to me this: "I think I'm going to start going to the USMS site less and look at others. I've been leaning that way for a while now. All in all it's not very interesting most of the time." I will be most of the time at usswim.org, since it has some mighty knowledgeable swimming fans in the 'Fans' section over there and I have an affinity with them.
